I can't believe I've underestimated how much I love this movie.

They Live is a goofy, over-the-top, movie about Reaganism. I had remembered how much I loved the soundtrack (I think it's Carpenter's best ambient soundtrack), but not how much I loved the movie.

A lot of this centers on the fact that, the movie is deeper than 'obey' posters, or money stating 'this is your new god'. This movie has a lot more to say about the effects of capitalism and about the politics of leftist anti-capitalist organization.

I think the movie would be enjoyable would be entertaining if the message of the movie was nothing more than it's explicit message. It's admirable that a movie about subversion is, itself, subversive.

P.S. this was the first movie (I watched) so far to give real roles to non-white actors. Good work They Live
